Mental Health First Aid Courses (January – June 2018)

One in five adults is affected by a mental health issue each year.
Is mental health first aid on your agenda?

Out Doors Inc.’s Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses provide high quality, evidenced based education, increasing the amount and type of support you can provide a work colleague, family member or friend.

The course teaches members of the public how to assist someone who is developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of these mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.

Option 1: Standard MHFA
A face-to-face 12-hour course (4 modules, each 3 hours) with flexible delivery format.

Option 2: eLearning

This eLearning course is self-paced (approx. 6-8 hours) with individuals able to work through it in their own time. To revise and apply the knowledge and skills learnt, they then participate in a 3.5hr face-to-face training within 3 months of completing the online component. It is prerequisite of this course that all participants complete the online eLearning prior to attending face to face training.

Participants in both courses receive a copy of the Standard MHFA Manual to keep and a Certificate of Completion. Additionally (at no extra cost), participants will have the opportunity to complete an online accreditation exam in order to become an Accredited MHFAider for 3 years.

Our facilitators are accredited MHFA instructors and also have a background in mental health, occupational health and safety, risk and injury management. They understand how to practically apply strategies within organisations to manage mental health issues and mitigate risk. Click here to read their profiles.
