Another day, we visited Mt Buffalo. It’s such a beautiful place with its lookouts and variety of walks. The Chalet sits majestically on top of the mountain. Sadly, due to the cost of running it and the need for repairs, it may never be used again. A few years ago, I did a tour of the Chalet, and the guide mentioned the electricity bill was $35,000 a month! We then visited Lake Catani, a lovely spot and a favorite place to camp with ODI.

The next day, we went back to Yakandanda, where we enjoyed a walk along the creek. After that, we went to the Bakery and had some really delicious pies for lunch—the best pie I had ever eaten!

On our final day, we headed for Glenrowan, another quaint town with a larger-than-life statue of Ned Kelly.

Here are a few facts about Ned Kelly:

• His criminal life began when he was 14 years old.
• His final battle with the police was at Glenrowan, where he was arrested in 1880.
• His suits of armor were constructed from mould-beam, the thick metal parts of a farmer’s plough.
• He was executed in 1880.

Our final stop was for lunch in Seymour.

A wonderful time was had by all. Being in nature is the best thing ever! I’m sure we all brought home some treasured memories of our time away.
